I have to tell one story: I was the pilot for Int'l Crusades back then, and one dark night was in the Cessna 210 with pastor Alfred Richards, coming out of New Mexico eastbound for Dallas. We were dodging thunderstorms and lightning bolts and it was late night... and dark.

I said "Alfred, see those lights over to the right. That's Lamesa, if we landed there, and called Dick O'Brien, I believe he'd come get us and we could stay with him overnight and fly home at dawn"... Alfred eagerly agreed. Dick came, and Sylva had pie and ice cream on the table when we finally arrived around 11pm, and we had a great fellowship and time of prayer. Plus, we lived to fly another day !

What a blessing was mine to come into friendship with Dick O'Brien through International Crusades in 1977. I joined the staff and so came to know him well -- learned much about prayer, just from being present when that man talked to God (and often wept, too).

He was helping to lead that ministry in its infancy; today those guys are a vast global network of evangelists, and Dick's fingerprints are in many places of that network.

Will be praying for your family! What a legacy you have! The footprints of Dick are many and were blessed and a blessing to many. The O'Brien's have been such a powerful influence for God in my own life.
May God be with you in this celebration of Dick going to the "home" he longed for.
In Him,
