Graveside services for Jimmie Lynn Koehler, 71, of Lamesa will be held Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Dawson County Cemetery with Reverend Sam Lanham officiating. Memorial services will follow at First Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Sam Lanham officiating. Eulogy will be given in honor of Jimmie by his high school friend, Terry Colley of Lubbock, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home. Jimmie passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017 in Lamesa. He was born on March 19, 1946 in Lamesa, Texas to Francis and Mildred (Frick) Koehler. Jimmie played basketball, football, and ran track at Klondike High School and graduated in 1964. He was involved in the FFA Stock Shows and 4-H as a youth. He grew up attending Klondike Baptist Church. He served in the Army National Guard from May 20, 1967 to May 19, 1973. He was a M14 Rifle Sharpshooter and M16 Rifle Expert. He married Pam Palmore on August 16, 1969 in Lamesa, Texas. They were married 47 years. He attended Howard College in Big Spring, TX. He then attended Texas Tech in Lubbock, TX and Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX. He graduated from Lubbock Christian University in Lubbock, TX on May 6, 1972. He was a farmer most of his life and worked at Eiland Lumber Company for many years. He was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather and uncle. He loved farming, hunting, fishing, country music and going to JJ's football games. He also loved coaching little dribblers, softball, soccer and baseball. He always attended his daughter's Girl Scouts functions. He served as a leader for the Boys Scouts and Cub Scouts. He was a member of the Optimist Club, and Young Farmers. He was a Deacon and Elder at the First Presbyterian Church. Jimmie is survived by his wife, Pam Koehler of Lamesa; children, Kara Sue Koehler of Lamesa, Kristi Lynn McCrary and husband, Ernest of Lamesa, and Jon Michael Koehler and partner, Mitchell Moctezuma of Corpus Christi; granddaughter, Madelyn McCrary of Lamesa; mother, Mildred Koehler of Lamesa; sister, Judy Turner and husband, Larry of Lamesa; and brother, Ricky Koehler and wife, Nelva of Lamesa. He is preceded in death by his son, J.J. (James Jeffrey) Koehler in 2004 and his father, Francis Koehler in 2004. Family suggests memorials to J.J.
