Floyd Davis, 76, died at his home on Saturday, April 22, 2017, after a very courageous battle with cancer. His continual positive attitude and amazing faith were an inspiration to many. Farming was his passion, and he spent many years working alongside of his twin brother, Lloyd in farming operations. He was born on March 20, 1941 in Lamesa, Texas to parents, Elzie and Myrtle (Comer) Davis. The family lived in O'Donnell, until 1957, where Floyd met the Lord Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and became a member of the First Baptist Church. He attended school there, moved to Welch and graduated in 1959. It was there he met his high school sweetheart, Nita Gruben. They were married on October 15, 1960, and later became the parents of three children, Cindy, Lonnie and Berenda. Floyd enjoyed fishing, playing dominoes, and traveling, but he was never too busy to engage in conversation. He was a current member of the Second Baptist Church at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nita of Lamesa; son, Lonnie Davis and wife, Denise of Elk City, Oklahoma; two daughters, Cindy Ham and husband, Zane of Lubbock and Berenda Putman and husband, Kyle of Lamesa; five grandsons, Braeden Davis and wife, Sara, Austin Davis, Tyler Ham, Shawn Putman, and Jared Putman; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd Davis and wife, Kay of Welch and Larry Lee Davis and wife, Susan of Weatherford; his beautiful sister, Margaret Louise Westfall and husband, Richard of Lubbock; and seven nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as a stillborn brother, Chester Lee Davis in 1938. The family would like to express their gratitude to Home Hospice and to their many friends for the prayers, visits and cards received. Pallbearers: Sammy Stevens, Randy Simpson, Ricky Brooks, Braeden Davis, Austin Davis and Hayden Davis. Honorary pallbearers: Arvis Woodul, Elwood Freeman, Sanford Boardman, Al Pippin and Jimmy Davis. Family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Gifts, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis TN 38148-0142. To send condolences online, please visit
