Eldred Earl Hatchett

November 15, 1943 - April 28, 2017

Eldred Earl Hatchett, 73, of Lamesa, TX, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 28, 2017, while surrounded by his loved ones. Memorial Services will be held Monday, May 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Pastor Garland Stueart, Pastor Jim Medley, and Jim Horton officiating. Visitation will follow in First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Born in Lamesa, TX, on November 15, 1943, Earl was the son of Charles T. and Margie Hatchett. He attended Lamesa High School, Hardin Simmons University, South Plains College, and Texas Tech University. Earl was a professional musician and played with numerous bands, including The Raiders. He loved to sing and play the guitar and piano, especially for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in his later years. Earl married Cynthia Barron on March 13, 1986, in Seminole, TX. He enjoyed farming, ranching, and raising animals of all kinds on his ranch, The Ponderosa, in Gaines County, TX. He later became involved in the oil and gas industry where he developed many lifelong friendships. Earl touched the lives of many through coaching youth sports, teaching RAs at the First Baptist Church, giving guitar lessons, and being the selfless and giving person that he was. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Lamesa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles T. and Margie Hatchett; and brother, Charles T. Hatchett, Jr. Earl is survived by his wife, Cindy Hatchett, of Lamesa; children, Todd Hatchett and wife Maria; Chris Hatchett and wife Cheryl; Shawn Hatchett and wife Becky; Melissa Clark and husband Aaron; Steven Hatchett and wife Darby, all of Lamesa; twelve grandchildren, Joshua Hatchett, Nathan Lopez, Joel Enriquez, Jeremy Hatchett, Brady Hatchett, Zachary Hatchett, Layne Hatchett, Vincent Enriquez, Bryson Clark, Mason Clark, Quinn Hatchett, and Layke Hatchett; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, William (Bill) Hatchett, of Lamesa; a sister, Robin Browning and husband Fred of New Braunfels; a sister-in-law, Joy Hatchett of Burnett; in-laws, Peggy and Norris Barron of Lamesa; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
