Memorial services for Ronnie Lee Cornett, 68, of Lamesa will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Medley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home. Ronnie passed away on May 8, 2017 in Lamesa, Texas. He was born on November 6, 1948 in Lamesa to Mirve and Sue (Rhyne) Cornett. He married Rita Hightower on June 19, 1970 in Lamesa. He was a Farmer for 40 years and loved driving around to look at his crops. He loved fishing and hunting, playing dominoes, and flying his powered parachute. He enjoyed visiting with his coffee buddies at McDonald's. He was an excellent storyteller and had a nickname for everyone he loved. His laugh was bigger than life and he enjoyed a good practical joke and teasing to the brink of tears. He was a member of First Baptist Church for 30 years. Ronnie is survived by his loving wife, Rita of Lamesa of 46 years; daughters, April Strahan and husband, Sam of Midland and Andrea McCarthy of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Samantha Strahan and Andrew Strahan both of Midland, Max McCarthy, Joshua McCarthy, and Rae McCarthy all of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and sister, Cathy Conley and husband, Ricky of Edmond, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents. Family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church of Lamesa 801 S. 1St St. Lamesa, TX 79331, Pathway to Freedom, Crestview Baptist Church 610 N.
